Gears on the Pier XVII Winter Toys | CCC
The ’24-’25 winter season in NYC has been a cold one. Classic Car Club Manhattan typically reserves a late January date to host Attack of the Racks, a gathering of winter accessory festooned vehicles. With a dry weekend in between snow storms, CCC invited owners to brave below freezing temps for a show of Winter Toys.
Roll in included a collection of Porsches and supercars, but I’m always interested to wait for the quirky and unusual to arrive. My three favorites were a late 90s Fiat Panda 4×4 that amazingly had all flat glass windows.
The Snowcrusher liveried BMW X6 looked the business. Sporting a lift kit, ice white rims with deep tread tires, front bash guard and KC light rack, it’s what an SUV should be.
Finally, the vintage Camel Trophy Land Rover 110 that arrived fashionably late was an amazing time capsule to see in person. It had all the original tools, spares and survival bits attached along with a wonderful patina of age. Seeing the videos of what conditions these vehicles traversed through in the 80s and 90s, this one is a rare survivor.
