CarPark‘s annual events in NYC have always happened on good weather days, except somehow when Porsche is the focus. The late August Porschella event at Brooklyn’s Industry City started off with heavy showers greeting the cars for roll in. Later, the sun came out and so did the crowds. It was almost an exact copy of the Brooklyn Porsche dealer opening celebration a year ago just a few streets away.
Spanning two long blocks, 35th St. featured pre-2000 Porsches while 36th was reserved for more current model years. The rain probably kept a lot more of the rare vintage cars in their garages, but a few made it out. One of the nicest was a primer grey 1977 Porsche 911 Turbo with the front racing facia and mile long rear wing. Inside were seats with center panels wrapped in Gulf blue and orange plaid fabric. It was pretty perfect weather for the 911 Safaris but none took advantage.
