August 2021 in NYC was looking to be a solid month for car events in the city. It would’ve been centered around the return of the North American International Auto Show to the Javits Center. However less than three weeks till the opening, it was postponed till spring 2022. All wasn’t lost however as CarPark held another round of their popular cars and coffee event at Industry City in Brooklyn.
I hopped on a Citibike at a bit past 7am to make down to I.C. in time for the 8am roll in. The CarPark crew does a good job of arranging the cars in rows by make or era, aided by the long canyon-like blocks that make up the Industry City site. Interspersed in the arriving multiple waves of Porsches were some nice vintage BMWs, Saabs and Volkswagens.
The prime spot was right on the 34th St and 3rd Ave where a vintage Volvo, Maserati, JDM Honda Today and Lancia Delta rally tribute were parked together. Further down the block was a pristine BMW Z8, it shows how far BMW as gone off the rails design-wise of late. Over on the next block was a black Fiat X1/9 with mismatched yellow wheels that had a lot of character and just looked pretty cool.
