Street Parked is a NYC car meetup series organized by automotive creative agency 24helps. The events bring the community together to support the positive side of the scene and local business partners. Previous iterations have occurred on Brooklyn streets. For the first early fall date in Manhattan, Street Parked took over a normally forbidden pad of tarmac on the East River.
A couple dozen vehicles ranging from a wide bodied Porsche 987 to a vintage Ford prerunner-style truck took over a Midtown helipad. The riverside location afforded background views of the many residential towers making up Long Island City, Queens.
While the site could have devolved into a tightly packed parking lot, I liked that there were a limited number of cars allowed and generously spaced. It was a fun location to shoot and definitely not the normal claustrophobic conditions of most other NYC car events.
