Carpark‘s 2024 season closer returned to Fosun Plaza in lower Manhattan on a sunny fall Saturday morning. Once again a diverse fleet of collectible vehicles made their way up the precarious ramp to the elevated plaza. There’s always a few hold-your-breath moments as the exceptionally low participants creep up the climb to avoid tearing front facias or beaching a chassis on the top edge of the ramp. So tip of the hat to all the owners who completed this side quest.

For me it was a trio of classic Italian cars that made the near dawn start to the day worth it. First was a red 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT. This one is the more desirable standard spec featuring the tapered front turn signal lights. The Dino in my opinion is the pinnacle of Pininfarina design and one of the most beautiful sports cars ever created.

Next is a Fiat-Abarth 750 Zagato from the late 1950s. The white painted body with Italian flag racing stripes highlight the unique double bubble styling. The car is tiny, seemingly half the size of a 911, but has tons of character.

Lastly is the grass green Alfa Romeo Junior Z or JZ as it’s also called. This small sports car aimed at younger drivers was also designed by Zagato. The car introduces the wedge shape and was described as a metal skin stretched over an engine. One of the more unique design details on the car is the transparent front facia with a Alfa shield shaped cutout.
