Moments of Wander is the fourth textile collection by Amsterdam-based designer Christiane Müller for HBF Textiles. Comprised of three patterns, the inspiration behind each comes from Müller’s interactions with nature during her travels. Trained as an industrial designer, she balanced aesthetic and functional considerations in developing the indoor outdoor line.
Fields of Velvet, Trails of Tweed, and Seeds of Colour represent different perspectives of the natural environment, from macro views of mossy rocks to expansive color fields of grass and sky.
During a presentation at HBF’s NYC showroom, Müller did a show and tell of how the collection was designed. She started with gathering photographs and materials like colorful ocean-eroded ceramic tiles. These were organized to offer color and texture direction. From there color pencil sketches were created exploring hue and pattern combinations. Finally custom yarns were developed and the weaving process commenced with partner mills.
