Early fall in NYC means the days on the calendar are edging closer to the return of headlining design events ICFF and WantedDesign for early November 2021. There are signs that some galleries and showrooms are already emerging from their dormant pandemic states. One of those is Colony with a relaunch show Here at Colony, debuting new furniture pieces and accessories while adding to their roster of independent American designers.
Here at Colony includes a new collection of cork furniture from Grain, that has the look of precisely milled stone. Flat Vernacular’s graphic wall covering patterns follow a similar bold shape interplay. The Principals Collection from architecture studio Workshop/APD developed in collaboration with Colony uses complimentary curves to soften the new line of furniture. The most experimental pieces in the showroom belong to lighting designer Bec Brittain. Her sculptural acrylic rod pendant lights take on the appearance of light trails in a long exposure night photograph.
